WARDOGS Recon guide: XP, levels and unlocks

How the Recon class plays, how it levels up, everything it unlocks and the XP each level takes. Recon goes from level 0 to 100; level 20 alone takes 250,000 XP.

How Recon plays

The team's eyes. Recon spots enemies for the squad, watches the approaches from range and takes the long shots. With three factions on the map, knowing where the other two are is often worth more than a kill.

Starting out: You don't need a sniper rifle to start. The monocular gives you a real job straight away: spotting for your squad, which levels Recon without a single kill.

A typical Recon match

  1. Find a position that overlooks a road into the Control Zone, the Hot Zone or a contested tower.
  2. Hold your spotter on a target until the spot completes. It marks the enemy on the map for your team, and pays 25 XP straight away and 150 more when that target is destroyed.
  3. Take the shots your squad can't: enemy snipers, exposed vehicle crews, players crossing open ground.
  4. Move when your view stops being useful, or after a few shots; your shots give your position away.

Recon tips

  • A spotted target that gets destroyed pays 150 XP, six times the spot itself, so spot what your squad can actually shoot.
  • Sniper, marksman rifle and bow kills all count toward Recon.
  • A claymore on the way up to your position covers your back while you watch the zone.

Your first Recon match

  • Aim for: Mark targets your squad can act on.
  • Avoid: Watching a quiet corner of the map while your squad fights somewhere else.

Spotting pays straight away; the big payout comes when a target you spotted is destroyed.
